After spending nearly a decade in financial consulting, where overwhelm and burnout were my norm, I knew something had to change. And yet I didn’t know what I’d do if I quit – and I was afraid I’d have to start all over from the beginning.
Until I learned how to figure out what I really wanted from my career (and life!) and the exact process to make it happen!
I learned how to get clear on what I desired in my career – and life! – (hint: it takes more than knowing your Myers Briggs type!) and built a detailed, down-to-the-hour plan of what to do each day to get closer to my career goals.
In a short period of time, I had landed a job in an industry I had no experience in, doing something I had never done before, and at a promoted level. I felt excited to go to work, knew I was making an impact, and finally had the time and energy to date, travel, and indulge in creative pursuits.
I know what you’re thinking (But will it work now?!) – and here’s my answer: This is a tried-and-true plan that works no matter the state of the economy and world events. In fact, it works especially well then!
Do you feel undervalued, unappreciated, or just plain stuck at work?
... but lack the confidence, clarity and plan to do anything about it?
Do you know in your heart it’s time for a change, but have no idea what’s next?
… so you stay in the same toxic, dead-end job for months – or years – longer than you should.
Do you regularly experience the Sunday Blues and have to use sheer willpower to drag yourself out of bed each morning just to start the day?
Maybe you even say “no” to fun on the weekend so as to not let your two days of freedom pass by too quickly.
And worse, now your job is affecting the rest of your life.
... including the energy and time you have to put into your health, relationship with your significant other (or finding them!), friendships, passions, and just plain enjoying life.
You probably ask yourself, “Shouldn’t I just be grateful to have a job? Who really loves their job anyway?“
Lots of people do, and you can be next. You can be grateful and want more. You deserve to not just love your job and make a huge impact, but to make great money and have a wonderful life outside of the office!
Finding a job that was aligned with my goals and priorities in life, where I was valued and appreciated, and where there was room for growth, allowed me to build not just a career, but a life, that I absolutely loved.
… which ultimately led to me helping successful, but unhappy, high-achievers (just like yourself!) do the same.
This is way bigger than just being happier at work. Finding joy and fulfillment in your career means more influence and impact, more leadership, as well as having the respect (and paycheck!) that you deserve.
It’s about being fulfilled in your career AND also having the time, energy, space and resources to build a life you love – full of love, connection, adventure and lifelong memories.
Not only will you feel more in control of your day-to-day happiness at work, but you’ll have the tools to build a career you love, whether you stay put, land a new job, completely change careers, or even turn your side hustle into your full-time gig.
We’re all sold this idea that you graduate college, get a job, and then build your life around it. I want you to do the opposite.
Find Your Job Joy is about getting clear on what you really want from your work and life, and then finding, creating – or even tweaking your current job! – so that it is both fulfilling in its own right and also supports the rest of your amazing life.
Many programs give you resume templates and interview tips. Sure, we’ll cover that, but we’re going to go way deeper.
“Find Your Job Joy is not just about the job… I feel like now I can tackle any problem that comes my way. I now have the confidence in myself to move forward in my career, to move forward in relationships with loved ones. Getting a new job was a benefit, but the mental benefits have even outweighed that. I feel so much more grounded in my life…”
“When you reach a certain point in your career, you think you're able to do it all on your own with nobody guiding you. I realized it was okay to ask for help, to take a chance, take a risk. I did not believe in career coaches. I'm a classic overthinker, but I reached the point [in my job search] where I just went with my gut and signed up for the program. Find Your Job Joy helped me not only get the job, but also have clarity on what I really want to enjoy my job and my life.”
“[Before Find Your Job Joy], I felt like I just needed to get my resume updated so I could send it out to as many places that might hire me.
Now I feel that I am more in tune with my strengths and passions that are drawing me to companies that fit that profile.
The connection and support is unparalleled. I loved that it was encouraged to express emotions and recognize them. You then were able to direct the conversation to how to use those thoughts and feelings to move forward and not get stuck in a loop of uncertainty.”
"Kristen is a true inspiration and an excellent career coach.
I reached out to her after a few years of feeling stagnant at work. Kristen provided a much needed outsiders perspective and guided me through the process of identifying the deeper root cause. Her guidance was like an epiphany and sparked a strategy to find my new dream position.
Within weeks of working with Kristen, I had two dream companies bidding against each other for my talents. I'm so excited to start my new adventure and I have Kristen to thank for this newfound success!"
“[Before Find Your Job Joy] I felt a lot of pressure to decide what job I needed to move and appease family. I was constantly searching and nothing appealed to me or if it did, it was for the wrong reasons. Stressed and without direction would be words to describe me.
Now I feel excited to explore a life-long passion in a different industry regardless of paycheck and what friends and family have to say about it."
“You know how some people just GET things? Like you could wake them at 2AM and they'd be able to instantly go, 'Ok so here's your first step.'
Kristen just GETS helping people network and find career fulfillment. Can't say enough good things about Coach Zavo!"
“Kristen is the doctor that addresses the underlying disease versus the symptoms; the holistic healer for workers who are unhappy at work.
So happy I made the choice to work with her!"
"[Before Find Your Job Joy], I would describe myself as having been all over the place, going down several paths but not doing any of them very well. What I needed was clarity to understand what makes me tick and what I really wanted to do - and you helped me find that. Now, I have a better sense of who I am and what I want. Usually people don't find that in 10 weeks, but I did.
People are so willing to put money towards everyday items. It's time for people to start investing in themselves. Your course, your book, your insights are a great investment. It's well worth the money. ...To be happier in life and in their jobs - it's priceless."
“[Find Your Job Joy] was such a great fit because of the support with the job search process and the community... but what I got was so much more. This process has helped me find the clarity and integration in my personal life as well, so I am happier overall as a person. If you're going to invest in your career, this is the place to do it. Kristen - you're fantastic. You've soared past my expectations!"
If you’re nodding your head, this course is most definitely for you! I don’t want you in the same position 1 year from now!
Staying in a less-than-ideal job affects the rest of your life – your health and overall well-being, your relationship with your partner, kids and friends, your energy, spirit and love of life! … Basically everything that makes life worth living! You can’t put a price on that!
“Before working with Kristen, I felt lost and unsatisfied. Now I feel like I have a purpose, like I know how to take steps forward.
My advice to you is as follows – take the class, listen to Kristen (like really listen), listen to your gut & take action…but be patient. Make the list of what you want & go for it.
Know in your heart that you deserve the very best, because what you do for you, affects everyone in your life – your kids, your spouse, your parents & your coworkers. My goal has always been to “make happy moms & dads”…well, I deserve to be one of those too.”
“Kristen and I worked together over this past summer and I couldn’t be more grateful for how much of an impact she has had in my life! Kristen brought out the confident Ashley that I have been so desperately trying to find.
When Kristen and I first started working together, I thought the majority of our work together would be regarding my job; but it was so much more than that! We set habits that I still use to this day and don’t ever anticipate stopping!
Kristen’s energy is what drew me into her coaching program and I am sure that anyone who tries her coaching will be as grateful as I am!“
“Kristen is so supportive and gives individual as well as group support.
She is always so energetic and upbeat. Plus, the lessons are very well put together – I’ve learned something in each one. I looked forward to the trainings a lot because of that.
With the environment that we have going on today, her enthusiasm is very encouraging and supportive. She isn’t so professional that she’s stuffy and yet just personable enough that you feel like you’re talking to a friend. Let’s say she’s real. I like that a lot!”
“[Before Find Your Job Joy] I felt hesitant, overwhelmed, and frustrated with my job search because I wasn’t getting any interviews. I knew I had to do something different, but wasn’t sure how to approach it.
I love how the program has given me a positive vibe in my job search. Now I have a clear structure, process, and an evolving plan to find not just a job I love, but a life I love.
I feel like you, Kristen, have given so much more than what you advertised this course to be, and I am so thankful. There are bonuses galore! Thank you for your time and energy, and for putting this amazingness into the world!”
“Thank you for being you, being kind, fun and a badass career coach. I have appreciated you and your program so much! I love the content and the process you have laid out. It is informative and well organized.
I found your knowledge and experience to transfer directly to the content and answer for me a bunch of questions that would still probably remain unanswered.
I love the diversity of the crew on our workshop calls, they are great people! I also very much appreciated your approach to not just job seeking but life. You are positive, authentic, and honest.
“I’m really excited – I start my new job next week. I’m feeling really confident that I’m going to be in the right place for me, and confident in my skills and abilities to really go in there and rock this job… I went in really thinking I was going to make a big career change, and it was rewarding to do all the self-reflection and realize that this was the right career path for me. I was just letting a few bad leaders and toxic environment get in my head.“
“I’d recommend Kristen to anyone who’s seeking more clarity and confidence in their career. She truly cares about her clients and helping them find their Job Joy. Throughout our time together, I felt totally supported.
I’d been at the same company for a long time and hadn’t thought about the process of getting a job in a long time. Kristen helped me gain clarity and discover that a shift in positions was right for me. She showed me current methods to get the job…. hint, it’s not just sending your resume out into the ether!
Kristen also brought out a confidence in me that I hadn’t seen in a long time. Because of this I have been truly comfortable talking to people about my story and letting my true light shine through.
If you’re looking for your Job Joy, Kristen’s your gal!
“Before working with Kristen, I was really disillusioned with my job and felt both tired and trapped. It didn’t feel sustainable. Now I feel like I have options and significant flexibility to make my days better.
Learning about networking and having an effective online presence was so helpful. It was also really helpful to really think about my priorities at this stage in my life. I like how Kristen guides you to consider your whole life (and what you truly want) before making career moves. Clarity first, then action. This helped me avoid knee-jerk reactions and take control of making my current job better where I could.
Kristen is an excellent coach and knowledgeable advisor. She’ll help you look inward to understand what really matters to you then support you while you take action. You’ll realize you have the power to make yourself happier and that change is always possible.”
“I am beyond grateful and excited for what Kristen has done for me. She truly listens to you and what your goals are. She’s not afraid to challenge you and give you steps to achieve your goals. Her follow up skills are amazing!
I am so thankful I found her and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. I found my dream job with the salary to go with it. I will definitely be working with her more. Excited to see what the future holds. She’s a true JOY!”
“It's worth the investment to join the program. Not only is it focused on the job, but it's focused on your inner health and happiness. I didn't think twice. I've invested in others so much. Now it's time to invest in myself. There's no price tag that I can put on being able to get the help and the direction I need."
It’s time to re-define success on your own terms, to have the courage to go after the career and life you deserve, and to step into the best, most vibrant version of yourself.
No more waiting, hoping and praying for things to get better. It’s time to prioritize yourself and your career – and know that when you do, everyone around you benefits.
It’s time to become living proof to your family, friends and community that they, too, can be happy, fulfilled and successful in their career AND have an amazing life full of meaning, love, joy, adventure and treasured memories.
“I had been through coaching a long time ago earlier in my career, so I kind of knew what to expect. But things have certainly changed.
Getting into the personal side of things, not just career, was something I really valued. It showed me that it's okay to want flexibility to have time at home. I do not have to be the person who says 'I would love to work 60-70 hour weeks for you.' I can work smart and spend time with family. During job negotiations, I finally understood how I wanted to spend my time and what my non-negotiables are.
Make time for this! This course doesn't take as long as you think. Figure out your most productive time to work and make use of it consistently for 20 minutes every day. And also be willing to ask for help when you need it."
“I've been through job searches before so I knew some of things, but this a holistic package that starts with life goals and it's not just about a job.
The best part of the course was the weekly office hours. Even if I didn't a big question that week, it was really good to hear from the rest of the people in the program as they were going through the same things I was going through.
I was on the fence before signing up for this program since I was unemployed and it felt like a big expense. But what I can say is if you're thinking this might be good for you, then you need to do it. If you've had that thought that this course might benefit you, then you're ready and it will be good for you."
“My confidence is back! I am interviewing a lot. I’m asking for interviews. The confidence is shining through… I feel like the spark is back and I’ve learned so much.
If you’re on the fence, I was in your position. I was concerned about the money. I was looking for a job; I was unemployed… For me, it was worth it – I made great connections, got my confidence back, and I know what I’m looking for. Commit to the program. It is a great investment.“
UPDATE: Shortly after taping, Courtney landed her fairytale dream job and couldn’t be happier! And after just a few months, they're already talking about promotions!
“I burnt out in the process of getting my PhD and I needed some time off…
I still don’t have a job but that’s because I’ve been taking things at my own pace. But I feel a lot better because I’ve been taking proactive steps."
UPDATE: Since taping, Jill has launched Thriving Places Collaborative, helping to bring placemaking and placekeeping projects to fruition. Her work amplifies community voices and helps to establish regenerative development projects, equal access to open natural spaces, community and public art projects, and environmental justice.
"[Before Find Your Job Joy], I had just lost my job... I realized that the job market had changed quite a bit, and certainly with the pandemic there was a lot of competition. I tried doing this on my own before - it's hard; it's lonely; it's frustrating.
Now I'm in a much better place in terms of my LinkedIn profile, my resume, my story, and most importantly - my confidence.
My main advice for someone considering the program: Sign up! It's a really well-rounded, fulfilling program."
"[Before Find Your Job Joy], I was at a crossroads, trying to figure out what my next steps were. It had been quite a while - almost 20 years - since I had looked for a job. I didn't even know where to start.
Now, through working through the program, I've learned so much. It gave me the tools to figure out what was important to me, and my value system when it came to work. I got a lot of clarity... it opened me up to things I hadn't even considered.
Joining the program was absolutely the best move I could have made."
“[Before Find Your Job Joy] I was looking for a job, but instead of being focused on this being a fantastic opportunity… I was still in total emotional overwhelm.
Now I can speak confidently about the great work I’ve done in that last position, without going into all the stuff that was horrible. I’m having fantastic conversations with people… Another outcome beyond owning my story was that I changed what I was looking for.
The community was just beyond wonderful – a fantastic group from so many different backgrounds and places in their career. It was great to have that support.
[The program] was definitely worth it for me.“
“[Since working together] a whole lot has changed. I resigned from my old job and took a new job in my field. … I feel renewed energy, … like I have a career that fits.
Some things I found super helpful: the interview coaching, a new enthusiasm for professional networking… plus holistic things like being intentional, thinking about how I want to show up.. and most of all, I really enjoyed the experience of community with other Job Joy people – and you for providing a really safe, supportive environment.
The investment in a career coach is well worth it. And I didn’t just have any career coach – you’re amazing, and so intuitive, and not judgmental … and you’re so skilled. I’m going to carry this with me throughout the next decade of work.”
“[Before Find Your Job Joy], I was confused. I wanted to make a change, but I didn’t know how.
It’s not just resumes, LinkedIn profiles and interview skills. You really address the needs of the whole person, and that’s why I like your program and wholeheartedly endorse it.
Before this, I was living for the weekends, and thinking everybody felt the way about their job that I did. It doesn’t have to be that way. We deserve to enjoy what we do.
And it’s been great to work with the other participants. We were all in such harmony, there was so much we had in common, and we really benefitted from each other. It’s a wonderful community, both in the meetings and in the Facebook group.”
“[Before Find Your Job Joy], I had taken 80,000 webinars and getting on to every job board – and applying to everything and anything.
Now I can honestly say, I’m so much more focused, confident, and passionate. I am so much closer to landing my dream job.
The way that you acknowledge our fears and concerns in a caring way is fantastic. And not only do you acknowledge it, but you help us take steps to move on and build our confidence. That is something I know I could have never done alone.
If you are feeling stuck or unfulfilled, insecure… this exactly the right program. You will not regret it.
"[Before Find Your Job Joy] I didn't have direction - what I should be doing, thinking about... the program goes by so quickly. I feel a lot more confident in structuring my job search."
"I couldn't have taken the next step in my career without Kristen's coaching. In just a few sessions she helped me find my passion, visualize my path forward, and begin progressing on that path. She's truly a blessing to those looking to find joy in what they do. I've never been happier in my career!"
“My job was getting quite stressful. Things were getting a little toxic. My work/life balance was really bad. …it was all work and no play. Life sucked.
I’m feeling so much better now. The biggest things I learned were through the clarity work – and it led me to realize that I can be happy in the job that I’m in.
It’s just that I need to re-focus and set boundaries. I figured out better ways to manage my time while I was at work, and also to learn to delegate.
Kristen – you are great. I love your personality. I loved every moment I could be in class. I got so much out of it. I’m so glad that I did this.
“I was in the job search process, applying to jobs and getting no responses. I was frustrated and knew I needed a different approach.
I did the LinkedIn Challenge and that was amazing and gave me actionable steps. And then the option to join the program came up and it felt like a no-brainer. I decided to invest in myself and keep moving forward.
I loved having the support of the other people in the program… that has just been the biggest bonus – not just the job search work, but also the support of the group.
This is the best investment I’ve made in myself in a really long time, so I’d encourage anyone who is on the fence to do it. It’s worth it.
“Compared to 2-3 months ago, I have more confidence… Every decision I make now is based on self-care, boundaries, and clarity that I learned from this program… Find Your Job Joy is a joyful journey.”
UPDATE: Since taping, Karen has accepted a promotion (a leadership role!) in her organization. She's happier than ever!
“Where I'm at now - I got my first independent consulting gig, so that's exciting - and terrifying!
The process of getting where I was then to where I am now seems like it went really fast. I didn't think it would happen that quickly.
Join [Find Your Job Joy] if you want to think about the next career step in a really positive and proactive way."
Find Your Job Joy begins as soon as you register! You’ll get instant access to the entire program, including my Jumpstart Orientation materials, so you can be sure to get the most from the program!
Your 6-month journey to Job Joy (and beyond!) begins with your first Office Hours session upon enrolling. All the details will be included in your Welcome email, as well as in our private Facebook community.
Yes, all the trainings and live Office Hours calls are recorded – meaning you can download and listen to each call as many times as you want.
Of course! In addition to 24/7 support from me in our private Facebook group, you’ll also have the chance to experience laser coaching with me on our weekly Office Hours calls.
No problem, I get it. I’m not about encouraging people to leave their jobs – unless that is what will make them happy.
Many of my clients are able to drastically improve their current roles while maintaining and leveraging the experience and reputation equity they’ve built up.
The tools, techniques and strategies I teach you for job search are also crucial to establishing yourself as a leader in your organization and industry, and building the connections that will lead to all sorts of career-boosting opportunities like speaking engagements, media quotes, and more.
You’re in EXACTLY the right place. Even those who do know what they want to do could benefit from more clarity!
Clarity is a foundational piece to building a career you love. Without it, you land the job, get the promotion or change careers and then months later realize you’re still not happy.
This program will support you in gaining clarity, and then help you build a plan to explore your options and go after the one that is most aligned.
Truth: Life will always be busy and you’ll always have a lot competing for your attention. It’s time to choose you, to make yourself and your career a priority. If you don’t do it, no one will. And in one year (heck, maybe even 10 years!), you could be in the same position, wishing you had started today.
If you’re interested but on the fence, let’s talk and I’ll help you decide if now is (or isn’t) the right time. Email me at kristen@findyourjobjoy.com to set up a call.
One of the biggest differences is that we go way beyond resume tips and interview prep. While that’s included, of course, it’s much deeper and more holistic than that.
This is not just about finding a job – you can do that! It’s about landing the right job and building a career that lights you up – that’s aligned with your personality, passion and priorities in life.
We start from a place of clarity to ensure that you’re on the right path (no more action for action’s sake!), and we build a personalized plan and take ACTION. Because all the reflecting in the world does us no good without inspired action.
It depends, but I usually recommend aiming for at least 1-2 hours/week dedicated to job search. That said, the length of the program allows for some flexibility, as some weeks you'll be able to dedicate more - and others less (because life!).
That said, I've built this program for even the most time-starved professionals with trainings averaging just 10-20 minutes each so you can get in, learn, and then get to taking action.
Here’s what Job Joy clients had to say when asked what they would tell someone who was considering working with Kristen:
“My advice for you all who are thinking of working with Kristen is definitely go out and do it.
I feel like she’s my personal cheerleader in my career. Every time you think you’re struggling or don’t know what to do, you message her and she’s like “You got this. Here are some steps.
She’s there cheering you on and making sure you’re being true to you. So definitely do it; don’t be afraid. It’s a safe, comfortable, space.”
“It’s been very inspirational, being able to connect with people who are also wanting to be high achiever in their roles.
The advice that I would give someone interested in working with Kristen would be to be ready to have change come. She keeps you accountable. If you’re going to say your goal out loud, just know you’re going to be working through it.
Change is hard, but she walks you through it, holding your hand every step of the way. But you’re doing the work. It’s empowering. She’s inspirational and empowering.”
“I want to make others happy when I go to work, and sometimes I forget about making myself happy.
If anyone is thinking about working with Kristen, I would say “Don’t even think twice.” When I met her for the first time, she was so enthusiastic, so happy to help me make a change in my life.
The only hesitation was making the time to make it work and meet with the group. You have many reasons why you can’t like family and other responsibilities, and you just have to decide to choose you. And that’s what I did.
Kristen’s going to help me all year choose me! I think I’m going to be 100% better – a better boss, a better leader, a better mom, and I hope that it exudes happiness on everyone around me and they can just trickle that out into the world.
I would not give back any second – so thankful to you, Kristen for helping me through it.”
“It’s been very inspirational, meeting all the wonderful women that were part of it, and hearing their stories and path to get to where they’re at currently – that’s been my favorite part.
My advice for anyone who is considering a career coach and looking at Kristen is to know that she is very real and genuine. She truly cares about helping you get to a better place in your career and life. I think she’s great.”
